SHANE MOORE Swindon, United Kingdom
I'm Shane Moore, 20 years old Great British ice hockey player.
I have been ice-skating since I was 16 months old, and playing ice hockey since I was 6. I worked my way up through the Swindon junior teams, and have played in many different semi-professional and full-professional teams.
I started coming to 24HRGYM (Everybodys II & Primebodies, as it was previously known), at the age of 14 for general fitness training. When the gym was taken over and became Primebodies, my training really kicked in and my on-ice performance improved no end. By the time I was 15, I had signed my first semi-professional contract with the Swindon Chill, skipping the last 4 years of my junior career to take on bigger, better players.
At this point the 24HRGYM team made me a programme to suit my sport and to improve on my speed and strength. This gave me the edge I needed, and found my self-becoming assistant captain for the England under 16's team. The following year I made the Great Britain under 18's team a year early, receiving a gold medal in the Division 2 World championships. The following year I was again selected for the under 18's team, getting relegated from Div 1 to Div 2, whilst also being selected to play for the GB under 20's team, at the age of only 17. I believe I could only do this due to my off-ice training, which had improved my speed and strength to that of a player beyond my years.
Playing GB 20's the following year, I was awarded with the assistant captain again, a year younger then the majority of the team. That year we made history becoming the first British team to stay in Division one.
Last year we again shook up the hockey world, being the first team to take a medal in Division 1 for Britain. We received the bronze medal, after being expected to lose every game, and were only 3 minutes away from a another gold medal, and gaining 3rd instead 1st on goal difference between the top 3.
I now train at 24HRGYM 3 times a week, and my next target is the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. I have been selected for the squad, and we are now training and will hopefully make it through the qualifiers. Without the help I have received from 24HRGYM I doubt I would be anywhere near where I am now. With their help I have represented Great Britain, and been able to make money out of a sport I love to do. I am currently playing with the Swindon Wildcats.
I am now working with the Sundiet, trying to improve my nutrition to match my fitness and strength. 24HRGYM are always finding ways to improve my game, and always show a friendly face.
Many thanks 24HRGYM
