Swindons Beatbullyz perform for GWR kids charity

One of the Swindon music scenes brightest lights - hip-hop trio Beatbullyz -  who have been around since early 2005 have recently come first in a national unsigned band competition run by Channel 4.

Along with thousands of hopeful national acts, the band entered the 4Unsigned ‘Get Played on HOLLYOAKS’ competition late last year, and were announced as the winners on Wednesday 23rd January.

The judges who chose them were made up of Hollyoaks production staff and actors.

The Beatbullyz trio are Bully (Andy Bullimore), Bozo (Daniel Dubose), and Disco (Stuart Anderson), and their sound is a skilful blend of ska, funk,  hip-hop, soul and big beat.

As well as wowing audiences in local venues such as Swindon’s Brunel Rooms and The Apartment and Moles Club in Bath, the band have played all around the country and in Europe.

They have previously played the Snow Bombing festival in Austria and are due to return there in 2008.

The band have also appeared on MTV, ITV and BBC News 24. However, the chance to be seen and heard on one of Channel 4’s most popular shows is something the band hope will give them some much needed exposure.

Top British Swimmers Chris Jones. Jon Audis, and Coach Andi Manley work out thier calories

The New lean look Chirs Jones with Duncan Goodhew and Mayor of Swindon

Chirs Jones works out at 24HRGYM with his coach Andi Manley who saw the benifits of calorie control as a swimming aid when it was highlighted by 24HRGYM team Vern Montgomery that if they were lighter there would be les “fat to drag” though the water. Not exactly rocket science, but the science of calorie control to achieve this was implemented, also a very different approach was offered by 24HRGYM in training in respect of rather than lift weights to achieve a new weight lift number as a bench mark, to adopt using the muscle to contract and stretch throught resistance, working the muscle and not the technique. pointing out that once you detract from the concentraction of the contraction (using the breath) into simply moving a weight A to B the body would not develop system to make the weights lifted easier. As far as fat control to calorie it was far easier for the swimmers to grasp at this stage.

Chris Jones said.

“My main focus approaching these trials is to be stronger and lighter than I have ever been before.  I have been using a weight loss programme based on calorie counting for about 4 months and am currently 4 kilograms lighter than my racing weight last year.  Combined with the fact that I’m stronger and have been training harder in the pool than ever, I’m hoping this will be the key to me dropping down to the 100m breaststroke Olympic Qualifying time.  I have to knock 0.96 of a second off in the heats to achieve this.”

Up against established British international breaststrokers such as Kris Gilchrist, Darren Mew, Chris Cook and James Gibson,

24HRGYM has weekly radio broadcast with presenter and broadcaster Ian Pugh, Ian wanted to loose weight and wanted to be honest and correct in this project with no fabrication and manipulation he has experienced with some broadcasting shows on weight loss. He went with Vernon Montgomery of the 24HRGYM Team due to thier easy honest approach to diet, and the simplicity of calorie control.

29-06-08. 24HRGYM Member Nick Jones Wins All Awards and qualifies for the British Finals

Nick Jones debut at the Welsh Natural Bodybuilding championships qualifier, on the 29th June 08. Not only did he win his novice class convincingly, but went on to win best posing, best legs, and won the over-all Best physique of the day, all on the same stage, a remarkable achievement and really ever seen.

In order to be ready for the challenging competition Nick had to go through a strict regime.“I trained solid for 12 weeks,” he said. “It took loads of dieting, lots of early mornings and no beer.“Before the competition I went from 15 stone down to 13.”

24HRGYM Team Vernon Montgomery said “He will go on to do well in the finals, and anyone going to the finals should look out for this up and comming star, Not only can he be in the same condition of this recent show of low body fat, but actually improve on it by dropping a few pounds to be slightly lighter and tighter, nick has an ace card of understanding calories and protein far better than any others in his class”
Nick made front page news in swindons local paper. 24HRGYM Team were there to support Nick on the day and congratulate him and wish him continued success.

Chris McStravicks testimonial to the 24HRGYM team on his Calorie control program

CONGRATULATIONS TO KRIS BARKER-WHITE FROM THE 24HRGYM

With Other Wall MemberKris with fellow members Aiden and Mark, Mark also completed his calorie control program and aiden took advantage of 24HRGYM Team skills in physique photography.

After compeleting the program Kris sent us in a letter with his thoughts and over view of what we do here at 24HRGYM!

I’ve been training on and off for several years and kept in fairly good shape but I wanted to tone up. So I embarked upon the sun-diet with the help of the 24hr team.

The information from Vern was clear and easy to understand. So I set out to achieve my goals I haven’t hit with my training before. Knowing how much calories i take, I began to reduce that amount each week. I didn’t find it that difficult in the first few months and I started to lose weight, by the end of the three months the last few weeks were hard but worth it.

I had lost a stone, the weight loss wasn’t my main goal but I got the shape I wanted. It’s brilliant experience and the help from Vern and the team was a great help. One thing I would say is, if you want to do something like this is get the support of your family and professionals like Vern and the 24hr team and don’t ever give up.

Kris photo now up on the wall as his and our personal reminder of what could be attained with the correct approach.

THE 24HRGYM WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME SCOTT LUCAS TO THE WALL

 Before

When I joined Primebodies I presumed all the pictures on the wall to be of models and that this was to act as an incentive for its members. When more pictures were displayed I learnt that these people actually trained at that very gym and that the aim of many was with the purpose of being featured on the wall itself. I believe that goals will always help people to achieve more out of themselves, so I eventually sort advice on the possibilities of achieving stardom on the wall.

I’ve always had a keen interest in diet and nutrition, however the advice I was given helped me to understand the concept and importance of calories much more than I had done previously and it gave me the edge I needed.

With this help and starting off at 13 stone, I achieved my goal, (which was to build muscle, lose body fat and therefore most importantly gain definition) and finished off two and a half stone lighter. The experience was unforgettable.

I am proud of my achievement and am often saddened to see others (despite trying to share what I have learnt) try so hard yet fail to reach their targets.

The best part of all is that by maintaining healthy eating throughout the week, I can afford to treat myself at weekends. Two years on I’ve still maintained a good physique and am very grateful for all the advice that was given.

24HRGYM TEAM WERE INVITED TO VISIT SILVERSTONE PITS FOR RED BULLS TYRE TESTING

Carl Montgomery meets Mark Webber at Red Bull

Carl and Vern of the 24GYM team visited the Red Bull Team at thier tyre testing in silverstone UK, where we were able to get close up to the machines and mechanics witinin the Red Bull team. Mark Webber is truly a nice guy, he made time to come over and talk with us and a give us a warm welcome even though he was working, despite all the hype and glamour given to Red Bull and Formula One, Mark was a down to earth decent guy. We got a close up view and better understanding of how the pit crew worked as a team. There is a great deal of hard work with each person fitting in as a link to a chain, the stronger the links the stronger the chain. All pulling to get Mark and David (Couthald) as far up the constructors and drivers leader board.

We learned that to be on top of your game your team have to work together, help each other and to get others to reach thier goal, and not be discouraged because your not seen as a key player because your behind the scenes but let another carry the winning result for everyone elses combined efforts. We help our members and we help as a team, using science and discipline.

We would like to thank the whole Red Bull team for their hospitality and a very enjoyable day and for letting us photograph and video in the pits

Congratulations To The 30 “Challenge Swindon” Entrants From 24Hr Gym

Congratulations to the 30 entrants from the 24Hr Gym who entered various categories of the Swindon challenge. We came first and second in the main event of the day the dragon boat and first in the football.

It was Swindon’s answer to the corporate games recently held in Swindon. Although 24Hr Gym attracts people who take their training more seriously and attracts high level accomplished trainers and national and international level, we were “capped” by the entry requirements.
No county-level entrants could take part, this made us have to rethink who we could enter. So it came as a surprise when semi-pro and county level competitors turned up at the karting complete with designer gear and own helmets. With even former employees of the company hosting the karting in this team!

We managed third due to a technicality (in fact we were 2nd) we had team captain Delroy King, who was our Lewis Hamilton of the day, who really gave the sneaky pro entrants a skid for their money.

The football was captained by AJ (Adam James Mayhew) who took the team all the way to gold, well done Ajarman, who often quotes that he “does not do losing”.

The boat race captained by Andi Manley, being a former swimming world record holder was not allowed to compete in the swimming event and non of his swimming team due to county level status, so opted for another event, but the result was going to be the same from his team well done!

Mark Simpkins worked alone and no one saw his efforts but we all become aware of the result, again this was run in a spurious way, the handicaps were given prior to tee off, and so reflected the goal or par of the entrants, so those who knew the criteria found it easy to not be honest with their handicap.

As for the event, we were promised photos etc from the emailed to us …non have turned up. And press coverage of which 24Hr Gym awaited eagerly to see, was surprisingly focused of entrants who placed 3rd in the football were featured and not the winners (24Hr Gym). Likewise with the Dragon Boat, it featured a company who sponsored the event.

Strange seeming it was a “challenge” and not a charity event, I thought a challenge was to gain and display the best, not just say “look at who all took part”. We all got goodie bags complete with balloon? Pen? And Tea shirt? With a leaflet promoting Swindon challenge event.

Pity it was not free passes to Swindon Council run sporting establishments, which would have been much more fitting. But we were told its Swindon’s first event like this and next year they would get it as right. The weather played a great part with glorious sunshine a few got gloriously burned in the boats, very good for the members and their families who all had a great day out at Coate Water Park.

Body Building Legends DVD

On any Bodybuilders must have list

Original 8mm Cine film of bodybuilding legends and greats, now available on DVD for £9.95 plus P&P .

It features a host of legends - Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sergio Oliva, Reg Parks, Bertil Fox Frank Zane and a great posing display from the late Mike Mentzer. A real must have for any bodybuilding enthusiast. Highly recommended by Vern.

This original film has been copied onto CD direct from 24hrgyms  personal collection, the original 8mm Cine film is the inspirational, motivational posing of Arnold beating Sergio Oliva for the first time in 1974. Sergio has never been seen so big!... neither has Arnold… seeing is believing! Also included is young Frank Zane’s fantastic posing routine.

“We absolutely loved the footage! It was a real suprise to see such legends on a one to one with the camera, excellent, thank you!”
Emma, Hinckley, Leicestershire

Chris Dickerson in 2 films - weeks apart - show before and after dieting and posing. Bodybuilding legend Reg Parks. Guest posing.

It features the late Mike Mentzer flexing on the beach in Santa Monica. With triceps Ernie Taylor would admire. Bertil Fox can be no more than 21 years old, complete with his massive arms and his usual some what questionable posing ability.

The mind blowing Sergio Oliva!! You can see for your self why it was in Controversial circumstances in Essen Germany him being beat in 1974 by Arnold. Make your own decision. Sergio said after that they changed the stage appearing order in favour of Arnold going on stage first. Right at the last minute!

Not only have you got Arnold and Sergio posing separately prior to the show but we also have live footage of the show itself. Make your own decision. Was Sergio robbed? The jury is out on that one.

Roger Callard, Surge Nubret and Franco Colombo can also be seen in cameo parts.

Please note, due to the amateur footage no music or narrative is included. Running time 45 mins approx.

You can obtain a copy of this unique one-off DVD by emailing info@24hrgym.co.uk

Ross Harvey Finishes Laser Radical European Championships

Ross Harvey, sponsored by the 24HR GYM and Sun Diet, has just returned from the Laser Radial European Championships at Riccione on the Italian Adriatic Coast. He sailed an excellent regatta and was delighted to finish 6th and top Briton in a high class men’s fleet. This followed a successful spring campaign which has seen him reach the top 10 in the UK rankings.

The Laser Radial is the women’s Olympic single-handed dinghy and although Ross has had some tempting offers to team up as training partner with the top women, he is putting his own ambitions first and is now moving on to the Laser Standard, the men’s Olympic single-hander.

This means continuing the hard work in the gym (and packing in the calories!) to reach the required optimum weight (80kg) whilst retaining aerobic fitness. Ross is still just 20 years old and his goal is the 2012 Olympic Games which will be held in this country with the sailing events taking place at Weymouth.

With no other funding at present (and expensive equipment and travel costs to meet) Ross doesn’t have the luxury of being able to train full-time and works as a sailing and outdoor activity instructor at South Cerney Outdoor Education Centre. Gym sessions are fitted in on weekday evenings, and every weekend and day off is spent on the water, mostly sailing out of Hayling Island Sailing Club. A few more low key competitions are planned for this summer, before the next round of ‘Qualifiers’ starts in the Autumn, with ranking positions and GBR team places at stake.

If you would like more information about dinghy sailing or can help Ross’ campaign in any way, please contact him via the 24HR GYM.

Sun Diet - Calories In, Calories Out

Calories in, calories out. That’s what it’s all about. Always has been and always will be. Why? Because it’s the only thing that remains constant and so can be measured, quantified and eventually controlled… so in essence anything that conforms in any way to be PART of a calorie controlled diet will work. But!! We find it so strange no one actually tells you how to find this calorie controlled part.

Then go on to tell you the other “part” they do suggest an exercise/machine, pill or supplement. Even surgery… but if it only helps as part or a calorie controlled diet… then you are only being given part of the story. Claiming results from the calorie part that is not explained.

Why this is done is because it stops legal action, as they are not allowed to make out what is being offered by them is better than any calorie controlled diet. What can be said is,

“It will only work along side/as part/in combination/with a calorie/kilo joule/energy controlled/restricted program”.

You know that calories are the least part understood of any program advised/advertised to you. So how can any program work if calories are not understood? Simple… they do not work. Or at best work for a few weeks or months.

But if you ignore calories you will end up back in the same groove or saddle you were in before.  We have developed the Sundiet with this problem in mind. Being both honest and correct.

Important points

  1. Calories are a unit of heat, this heat comes from the sun, and heat can be measured like any other measurement. Paying a gas bill on a meter reading is measuring “consumption/usage” calories consumed can be measured and values understood like any other currency. Too many calories and you get fat. Reduce calories you “get thin”.
The Sun’s energy is trapped from leaves of a tree and when you burn the wood, the fire you release is the very heat stored from the leaves. Same as coal, same as oil, all ancient sun trapped substances. The food is also stored energy/heat from the sun and then it is burned in a calorific meter and the information written on the side of packets as “nutritional information” a calorie is not a calorie unless it represents heat! Body fat is your stored heat. Or unspent heat you have eaten.
  2. But it is this measuring and controlling that we find to complicated and difficult to understand, and more importantly to do in practise, although it is never opposed in theory.
We don’t even know how to assess what calories we are currently taking prior to any reduction. We simply don’t know.
  3. Because we don’t know, does not mean we ignore the correct science, all the more reason to simplify it rather than avoid it and sell a less meaningful concept.

Being in the field of weight loss for over 25 years we have developed our own system and work book to help do this very practise. Not on an “intellectual” level but on a “practical” level in your own home, within the family environment.

We call this program the “Sundiet”. A calorie controlled program only using foods produced by the sun hence “Sundiet” using pulses, grains nuts and seeds of course the well known Fruit and Vegetables, and we cleverly included, for all those meat eaters, any meat that has also lived of food produced by the sun, beef, unfarmed fish, corn fed chicken and free range eggs. After all there’s nothing new under the sun. It is only when we ignore the suns foods and its heat measurement that we get fat, ill, and unhealthy. Check out our web site to see how we are now making this revolutionary program available to you, today!!

Congratulations!! Martin Durruzzio Makes Member’s Gallery

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Martin Durruzzio the latest member to make the wall of fame, the gym wall displays members’ results with their photos on the wall of fame.

This was started by Vern Montgomery back in his Bournemouth gym 10 years ago. It all started with him presenting seminars on diet and nutrition and on how to control calories for weight loss, coming from a competitive bodybuilding back ground you soon learn that to look good on stage you needed low body fat to reveal muscle, and that people who just wanted to have a “six pack” could use a similar but more simplistic system.

Some intelligent or curious trainers questioned the idea more, and then applied this simple practical science. Time after time the results remained the same, and as a proof of success he started to take their photos and build a wall of fame.

Vern originally used celebrity photographer mark Easton. Developing so many physiques that eventually Mark Easton being the copy right holder of the photos and went on to form a web site using all gym members photos claiming he “Found beauty in the human form” really! I guess once you find the calorie you can reveal what you want to anyone. And they will interpret it themselves.

Vern realised that if you had a great shape (low body fat) any good photographer would find the beauty in the human form.

“You need a brilliant photographer and light manipulation to make an person out of shape look good.”

But, “just a good photographer, in natural light, can make a person in great shape look brilliant.”

So now vern does his own photos or will use any enthusiastic local photographer. Martin achieved a great shape with a very low level of body fat, and can attain that shape at will when ever he chooses. Congratulations!!

Martin’s story can be found on sundiet web site.

Johnny Fuller Funeral

As some may or may not know Johnny Fuller, one of England’s best ever bodybuilders, passed away this year.

He was a good friend and someone who I used to train with many years ago. He helped me get ready for the UK finals in 1989 where I placed 3rd. He was an incredible trainer more notably whose intensity I felt first hand and he has been one of the people I most respected.

I recalled training legs with him on one session in which he sat me on my backside. The reason being we were doing giant set circuits at a gym when he lived in Swindon.

Giant sets are where you go from one exercise to the other with out stopping. You pick one muscle group - say legs - and pick 8-10 Exercises that do that particular group. You then go from one to the other in slow even pace. Non stop!! Only resting at the end of the circuit, and I clearly remember one of those exercises was 5 plate (500lbs) squats.

It was the first time I had to sit down and watch my training partner (Johnny) carry on the training session like it was a day in the office, with out me. It was humbling to say the least.

Vern Montgomery Vern Montgomery Vern Montgomery

Here are some photos of the 1989 UK finals - Vern placing 3rd with support crew Johnny Fuller and Lorne Mccalla.

Now I know the difference between a good bodybuilder, and a professional bodybuilder. A lesson I will never forget.

I was pleased to be asked by Derek Peoples to speak at his funeral. I knew Johnny only from a body building perspective, and recollected some other memorable moments.

We wanted to test our theory of calorie control and their practical understanding on the best that was in the area. If you have an opinion, get it tested by the professionals.

So we invited the heads of south west obesity and weight management departments in great western hospital in Swindon to meet us at out 24hrgym in Swindon. Us as calorie teachers wanted to show these professionals what we are doing that is so revolutionary different.

And hopefully get a white paper as suggested to be “recognised” by the “establishment” as we were pointed out this was the correct path in establishing a concept. So they told us we needed their Seal of approval. Or the first step of a ladder was up to them. So in the presence of:

Mark Banbury - Senior Dietitian, Nutrition Support
Lynda Webb - Nutrition and Dietetic Services Manager S & M NHS Trust
Clair Baber - Chief Dietitian, TGW S & M NHS Trust
Hanna Fishlock - Department Specialist Dietitian in Obesity

They attended, some what late, but they did turn up.
We presented them with a simple concept in calorie understanding. Who each described their opinion all of which we unfortunately dismissed as irrelevant in curing obesity, trying to establish the only correct way was to understand calories.

In frustration we gave them an example of how respected educators were out of touch of objective nutrition.
We did not feel we were making head way so I quickly posed a hypothetical question for them to answer to prove they had not objectified their opinion subjectively.
The hypothetical question was…

We asked each one of them to imagine that if there was an imminent disaster pending, and we had a place underground to go to survive, ensuring we remained underground for 3 months.

  • Ventilation and oxygen and hygiene was not a problem.
  • We could take as much water as we wanted.
  • Light and heat was not a problem.
  • But we could only choose one food for survival. And on that answer we could evaluate collectively, who was the nutrition expert and accept the advice.

The 3 of them thought for a while.

Lynda Webb said “chocolate” (We were surprised I must say).
Clair Baber said “potatoes”.
Mark Banbury the senior dietician declined to answer the question. (?)

I gave a clue, to a prompt Mark a food that feeds a third of the world’s population today.
He still remained silent.
I suggested my food would be rice due to its high storage ability and nutritional content. And preferably brown rice.

Giving an analogy that dropping down chocolate or potatoes on to starving people would not be appreciated.
They never seemed impressed with us testing them, but did show an interest in obtaining our work book to “look at and consider” we declined their offer.
When I tackled Lynda Webb on how she works out her calories she replied “I do it, like you do” of course I should of asked the question prior to showing her how we do it. We are calorie teachers so of course we know how to do it, and it is the only way it can be done so its not that they do it, it’s not real to pretend you do it differently.
We sent a email asking for a assessment as they previously said we needed from them. Especially as she said she does, what we do herself at home. To work out her calories…

Here is the email I sent…

Since that meeting and email and many calls we had one limp response from Mark Banbury.
Why avoid us and ignore us. We are only showing other people how to do what Lynda webb claims to do anyway. Hannah Fishlock did not attended and we have never heard any feed back.

Hi Vernon

Thanks for inviting us to your presentation.
Sorry its taken a while to get back to you.
I have passed on feedback to Hannah as she is the department specialist dietitian in obesity.

Mark Banbury
Senior Dietitian - Nutrition Support
The Great Western Hospital
Swindon SN3 6BB

I managed after many unreturned calls to finally speak with Lynda Webb who said quite simply,

“Your mathematics on explaining calories add up.”

Well thank you very much Lynda Webb we have spent 25 years doing this I am sure they do, the funny thing is yours do not. Even If they did she is totally unaware of it.

The best analogy here is the “blind leading the blind”.

Lynda Webb has here own policy on effective weight loss, see if you can understand it, or have the ability to even read it. I stressed our simplistic approach is far superior to her intellectual approach; I will let you decide yourself.

Dear Hannah.

Re: Sundiet

It was great to meet yourself, Mark and Claire on Tuesday 11th Oct. in which we discussed our new concept. The purpose of this meeting was for your personal opinion on our system with regards incorporating it with in the NHS. The main reason for our meeting on Tuesday 11th Oct was from a previous telephone conversation with yourself in which you suggested we operate this within Swindon first and our first port of call should be in obtaining a white paper from yourself for us to be recognised. Could you please inform me as to the feasibility of this in view of what you have seen.

As you can appreciate all information is confidential until its official launch on Jan 4th 06. We have put together the program in a format and application in our work book which will be ready next week and would like to book an appointment with you at your earliest convenience to show you the improved format.

We have 3 more meetings planned in the coming months which includes the BBC, and M.P for Swindon.

As part of our research we would very much like to interview you on what’s currently being used within the NHS at the moment. To add momentum to our research we would like a conclusion and forward to our program which we can use as merit in arranging further meetings.

We learned did something new from yourself at the meeting, in the support after the program as you rightly say most fall away after a few months. We have developed something unique in this after care so lacking in other programs. We have also considered a year guarantee to the individual and should the NHS pay for the program the Health government can recoup any fees already paid to us in full on any failures in the program for up to 1 year.

We are also looking for further contacts with other obesity research groups here and in U.S.A if you have any suggestions for us please let us know if you recommend any contacts for us.

We would greatly appreciate a personal opinion from Mark and Claire individually on their personal thoughts regarding the meeting on the sundiet. Positive or negative and any recommendations they may offer. We would also like to mention to them all information on the sundiet is confidential and for their opinion only at this stage and appreciate their non disclosure.

Is this something you would like to see us do within the NHS or we could choose a more commercial route and come back to you in a year as you suggested. We would appreciate consideration in working with a group of obese individuals for free to aid a decision in the future.

We would be more than happy to attend any board meeting which mentions this concept if you could let me know if this is your intention.

In view of what you have seen what do you think should be our next positive move.
I await your reply with interest.

Kind regards.

Good Health

House Of Commons

As usual, never talking a common language… all egos and pocket lining. Vern and Vince visit the Houses Of Parliament to attend the National Obesity Forum (NOF) and witness what a mess the government face in making polices and debates on tackling obesity.

Calorie teachers and Brothers Vince and Vern visited the House of Commons to sit in on a debate hosted by (NOF) National Obesity Forum with Dr Ian Campbell as chairman it was a debate on curing obesity with selected M.Ps attending.

We witnessed an endless array of people standing giving lectures on statistics and percentages on the current trends in the obesity epidemic. Strangely, nothing about cures or procedures.

In a nut shell, Dr Ian Campbell was trying to convince all to get more money per head from the government to “compensate” doctors for the amount of people they had to treat, because of the little time given to treat them. So more money was his opinion. I am sure it is being a Doctor, calling for obesity to come under GMS (general medical services) and of course paid accordingly. More pocket lining.

Doctors offering a wide range of services called alternative options, such as surgery and pills, is likewise, not the answer which the NOF web site will soon guide you to. Then we had one M.P who after unloading a load of talk on the subject then left never to return after his “bit” was done. His day diary filled no doubt.

Another M.P spoke of supplement aids and nutritional supplements being a possible way forward, he mentioned he had some close relationship with a supplement company in this area of research.

It was laughable pomp and waffle. More ironic was that half of the attendees were over weight. One of the chief speakers had the biggest belly hanging out of his trousers as he stood to speak. Only thing in “common” in the commons, was fatness.

Most of the people in the chamber were “sent” by some respected company or other for P.R.

I grabbed my chance to stand up and say something at this intellectual waffle on statistics and bidding for government contracts.

So I directed my point to that over weight person, sat in a important prominent part of the chamber who could obviously be seen by all in the room, as he was on display in his position of authority with a posture of feathered turkey.

I asked him,

“How many calories did he eat today?”

This was directed to the rest of the room the likewise question.

“How many calories does anyone in this obesity Forum know they had today?”

Of course the room remained silent.

The causes of obesity is because no one, not even these attendees knows what were talking about.

It’s the thing in “common” with obesity, that is, not collectively knowing calories or their value. So it’s easy to eat too many of what you don’t know about, or have no “common” idea about.

A problem that is “common” through out in the forum of obesity. Obesities opposite is calorie knowledge obviously!

Precisely my point. If these respected people who govern policy have not got a clue about calories, then how will the less intelligent know how to gain control, I say less intelligent because one speaker went on to demonstrated by statistics that it is the less educated or lower income people who tend to be the most obese.

That’s precisely the reason that you should talk in a language simplistic enough to understand.

The point I was trying to make was, we need “calorie” teachers. Yes! People who not only talk about calories, but who can show literally how to find them day to day week to week.

In a simple term that everyone understands.

They all look bemused by my point. (After it was asked who here knows how many calories that had at any time in their busy office day?)

Yet weight loss is ONLY successful as part of a calorie controlled diet??

I happened to have NOF’s own web site definition on weight loss/management (click here to view)...

Indeed we agree with NOF’s “How Weight loss works” that’s why you need a calorie teacher who could teach someone in simple terms how 2000 or 2500 calories are found.

That’s why we have a epidemic. No one knows how to find this “calorie” or increase of “calorie” intake. Indeed we all can write and use mathematics to support our argument, I will quote the words that best sum this up from Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman, who served on the NASA Challenger investigation, I quote:

“For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled.”

Because we have failed to communicate its importance of understanding its currency and its correct evaluation, does not mean it does not exist. It means those in control of education failed to understand it themselves.

We need calorie teachers just like electric needs an electrician and a 6mm bolt needs a 6mm spanner. Otherwise why quote how weight loss works. Giving more money in GMS grants to Doctors as this is not the answer. Good communicating calorie teachers are, it’s the right tool for the job.

Vern and Vince

Thank you Mark, Lisa and Spikey

24HR GYM would like to extend a very big thanks to Mark Cater, his lovely wife Lisa and their dog spikey! For all their support in the early stages.

If ever any members happen to be in Bournemouth town centre next to Bliss ‘n’ Tokos from midnight onwards and are feeling hungry, you will find him and his crew banging out healthy fast food faster than anyone else.

Please don’t ask for a freebie, one reason could be he has given enough already. The real reason is he hates being damn rude when being asked. Good luck Mark and Lisa Cater.
